A piece of Chinese cultural history is located in Cambridge. The poem ‘A second Farewell to Cambridge’ is taught to every child in China. One of China’s most popular poets Xu Zhimo, is a past student at King’s College, Cambridge University from the 1920’s. He became a Chinese icon both in China and Cambridge. A memorial stone with a section of the poem expressing how hard it is to leave Cambridge is situated next to the River Cam, making it so special for Chinese students to visit the beautiful city where the famous poet studied. Cambridge is a major stop-off for Chinese visitors at around 350,000 visitors each year in Britain.
Bucksmore students based at our Magdalene College, Clare College and Corpus Christi College have the opportunity to experience what it is like to study and live in a Cambridge University College.
